When I told people I was going to Oman, many were confused. Why would I want to travel to the Middle East, and to a Muslim country? There seems to be an ongoing (and I think increasing) reluctance by many to visit Muslim countries and/or the Middle East. I believe that anyone who decides to paint all of the countries in this region with one broad brush stroke would really be missing out. Oman is a very safe, moderately conservative, lovely country and the Omani people are extremely kind, courteous and friendly.
